The Magical Library

Let me tell you about the world’s most wonderful place: the library. But not just any library; this one is magical. Well, I think any library has a bit of magic in it because of all the books that tell stories and share knowledge. My favorite spot in the world is a place called The Magical Library.

Now, you might wonder why it’s called magical. You see, there was a time when words weren’t seen but were spoken aloud. Thus, there were storytellers instead of books. Then, one day, someone found a way to write words down, and books were created. The words inside could now be heard in silence, through reading, and could travel anywhere! But some words were even more powerful; they seemed to come alive.

An enterprising fellow decided to create a place where books with special words could be stored—books that told stories of real magic, historical battles, profound journeys, and heartfelt emotions. He called his collection The Magical Library. Generations later, there was me—a little bookworm—to discover it.

Oh, how I longed to venture into the library. One evening, I was invited to a gathering in its circular reading room, surrounded by books filling every wall. A proper ceiling extended over all the chairs, and there were even windows letting in the warm moonlight! I sat down, opened a book, and heard whispers: screaming soldiers on muddy battlefields, sailors in raging storms, and small green insects in swaying trees when it rained. I even learned about a mysterious place called Africa, which sounded like another planet to me at the time.

I became a bookworm—someone who works in a library—gratefully turning pages while learning to read. Each book I opened transported me to other countries and historical events, where I encountered ships sailing through mountains and fields. I met heroes who chased bandits and princesses who journeyed for days on a flea’s back.

I explored the world with no money in my pocket! People paid thousands of dollars to visit distant lands, all while I could embark on a journey of a lifetime for the price of a library card.

If you want to learn about a unique culture or a different way of life, just look for it at your local library. Knowledge waits for you, eager to become a part of your being. And as after each meal, you grow a little bigger, you’ll find that reading too makes you grow. To the library, my friends, to the library!
