In a mystical forest long ago, there lived a unicorn named Ella. With her shimmering white coat and horn that sparkled like the stars, she pranced through the tall grasses but felt she carried a deep sadness within her heart.
Each day, she would lose herself among the mushrooms to gaze at her reflection in the pond, puzzled by the loneliness that enveloped her. Even when the other animals frolicked nearby, something felt amiss; they had someone to share their joy with, whereas she felt like a patch of moss cast adrift on the forest floor.
One soft morning, Ella whispered to the dew-kissed leaves flittering above: “Oh, how I wish I could find my home in another’s heart.”
As if the forest heard her plea, twigs crackled, and a gentle bluebird landed on her shoulder.
“What troubles you, fair friend?” it chirped softly.
With a heavy sigh, Ella replied, “I feel so very lost in this world. Would you help me find my home?”
Filled with compassion, the little bird agreed and spread the word throughout the woodland. Shortly, big-hearted animals came trekking along the path to help Ella. Rabbits, deer, and even the wise old owl inquired about her distress, but none fathomed the reason behind her sorrow.
Finally, a trembling little fox approached, nervously mumbling, “Pardon me, Miss Unicorn, but have you ever thought that perhaps your home is in the heart of your true friend?”
Ella pondered this and replied, “But curiously enough, I know not yet who that might be. I suppose so. Could it be you, dear fox?”
Startled, the fox stuttered, “Me? Oh, Miss Ella, how could I ever be worthy of your friendship?”
Instantly, Ella realized, “A proper heart never weighs achievements or triumphs. Do not say you are not worthy, dear friend, for we are all exquisite in our own way.”
Compelled to believe her, though still uncertain, the little fox quietly asked, “I wish to understand even more of what you’ve said. Would you kindly share your heart with me?”
Pleased with such a lovely question, Ella bent down to the little one’s soft ears and whispered, “I find my home here, in you.”
Suddenly, the forest glimmered with the light of a thousand stars, enchanting all creatures with a reminder of the love that existed between friends.
As the day peacefully faded, Ella the Unicorn renewed her gentle laughter and welcomed the woodland animals.
Thus, she found her home right beside her new little friends, knowing now that the heart’s true home shines brightly, not on the forest floor, but within each beat of love shared between friends.
You belong wherever love is.
