The Dragon's Wish

In a lush and mystical valley, where the trees whispered secrets and rivers glistened like jewels, there lived a little dragon named Daisy. Daisy was not just any dragon; she was born on the eve of the winter solstice, a night blessed with shimmering starlight. This celestial birth had gifted her with the most magical ability of all: a heart full of dreams.

As the seasons danced by, Daisy discovered her love for flying. Every twilight, as the stars peeked out to dance among the clouds, she would leap into the air, her wings glimmering like silver in the moonlight. But as she soared above her enchanted valley, a tiny whisper in her heart made her doubt if she truly deserved to fly so high.

One evening, with the sky painted in hues of purple and gold, Daisy sighed and plopped down beside a sparkling brook. “I wish I could fly as high as the moon,” she confided to her friend Quill, the wise old owl. “But I’m just a little dragon. What if I can’t?”

Quill ruffled his feathers and regarded Daisy with kindly eyes. “ dear Daisy, every star in the sky started as just a glimmer. You are magical in your own right. Perhaps you need a little encouragement.”

Feeling slightly better, yet still hesitant, Daisy asked her other friends—Rustle the playful squirrel and Bubbles the cheerful fish—about her dreams. Each friend chimed in sharing how Daisy inspired them to move past their own fears. With warmth and laughter, they encouraged her to cast a wish and believe in herself.

That night, a blanket of twinkling stars adorned the sky as Daisy closed her eyes tight and whispered, “I wish to fly high above, like my dreams—a place where I belong.”

The next morning, the valley prepared for the annual Festival of Wishes. Fairies, elves, and woodland creatures of all shapes and sizes filled the air with merry music and aromas of sweet treats. The mayor of the forest, Old Man Maple, an ancient tree known far and wide, announced, “Let your wishes soar high! A time where dreams clothed in hope will flutter beside the clouds.”

Giving her friends an encouraging nod, Daisy decided to join in the celebration. As her friends began casting their wishes into the surrounding meadow, Daisy could feel her heart thumping louder than ever before. The meadow was wrapped in a shimmery light, and sparkling wishes began taking form—a wish flower from each participant.

Feeling an intense flutter of hope and with the encouragement of her friends whispering in her ears, Daisy went to the center of the meadow. She cast her wish flower into the sky, where it twinkled like a star and settled in a tree crook, and she opened her wings wide.

To Daisy’s surprise, the wish flower glowed even brighter and, without waiting for further thought, she leaped into the air. Breezes wrapped around her like a warm embrace, lifting her higher and higher. Daisy heard the delighted gasps from her friends below and her heart brimmed with joy.

“I am flying! I am truly flying!” she exclaimed from high above. She danced among clouds, playing with the stars, and felt the warmth of the golden moon shining down on her.

As Daisy landed gracefully back where she started, her friends rushed forward to embrace her. “You flew like the stars themselves!” Quill exclaimed, his wise eyes twinkling with joy.

“Did it feel magical?” Rustle echoed, bouncing excitedly.

Daisy’s eyes sparkled with unshed tears, a newfound inner strength evident as she replied, “It was more than magic. It was believing I could with the love of my friends guiding me. Thank you for helping me see that my dreams, no matter how big they seem, deserve to take flight.”

And as the valley echoed with delight and dreams realized that day, Daisy the dragon understood that to soar among the stars, one must always have belief—first in their friends, and above all, in themselves.
