In a calm evening as the sun was setting, Duke the dog was out for a stroll. He carried a bone in his mouth which he had gobbled up smile and was feeling very proud of. As he came to a stream, he stopped to look at his own reflection in the water.
Duke thought it was another dog with another piece of bone. He thought to have that also and often think it worth awhile to snap at the imaginary dog but when he opened his mouth the bone fell into the water, and looking down he only saw his own nose.
“So, I have only a fool’s bargain to show for all my trouble.”
The Dog and His Reflection teaches us that
“it is not greed but contentment that brings happiness.”
